The Dolomites

We stayed in Castelrotto while we visited the peaks called the Dolomites. The ski season had just ended and we had the place to ourselves.

About Legends

St. George slayed the dragon. Drink from the fountain and enjoy long life. The cup has been there for a while, so use your own container--it's the water that does the trick, not the cup.

I saw no witches or dragons, but there was some evidence of their passing: contrails from, obviously, their brooms and breath; magical blue skies and Camelot-like weather; horses pulling carriages that appeared out of nowhere; rocks piled on roofs to make sure that no mythical creature would huff and puff them away.

About Layers

Italy is layers. The land, the buildings, the roads all built one century and one foundation upon another.  And maybe the people, too, are layered in the same way--Etruscans, Romans, goths, moors; Germans, French, Venetians.
