Physical prowess was amazingly important to the early Greeks.  One reason may be that they seemed to be almost non-stop fighting one another.

We're standing here in the field of the original Olympic games.  It's just a field, but stands the same as when those first games were held here.

We were encouraged to run the length of the field, but even walking it was way too hot.

In our bus we arrived at a parking lot in the middle of nowhere.  Just us there at the edge of an otherwise unremarkable hill covered in hot, dead grass and lots of rocks.

Turned out it was thought to be Agamemnon's burial site.  It was hot.  I walked to the top of the hill and sat on a rock under the only sparse tree.  I waited to see if the group would be walking back my way, or returning to the bus via a different path.  I was unwilling to walk one extra step.  Our tour did not provide water.  We had to remember our own.  It became clear to me that it is a Greek thing--they expect you to take care of your own needs.

I finally did walk down to the "tomb" area.  And then found shade in the side of a rock wall.

Did I mention how hot it was?
